Laser cutting technology is used to cut various materials in use in the assembly line, from materials such as wood, stone and leather to materials produced in industrialized processes such as plastic and metal. The process takes place by focusing a high-output laser beam upon the martial to be cut. Given sufficient power, the material reacts by meting, evaporating or diffusion. Laser technology is particularly effective in cutting flat plates. The thickness of the material that can be cut depends on the power of the beam and the range if its focus. The great advantage of using laser is that the cutting takes place without mechanical contact, and other than the energy projected onto the material there is no mechanical friction. The absence of friction enables freer motion, and increases the geometric flexibility of the cutting.
